Congratulations Warrington RUFC

Congratulations Boys!! Warrington RUFC under 14’s competed in the Gullivers festival final which was held at Twickenham at the end of May, and went on to defeat Rosslyn Park 5-0 on the day!! Making the lads National Champions at under 14’s level. This was the second time this talented team has played at Twickenham and won. The lads look great in there Optimum customized kits and we are delighted and proud of their result!! Well done!!

Warrington RUFC are on their way to Twickenham!

Warrington RUFC under 14’s competed over the Easter weekend in the Gullivers Rugby Festival in Nottingham. Over the two days they played and won 6 games of very physical rugby, amassing 132 points and only conceding 24. The boys went on to defeat Derby in the semi final by 22 points to nil guaranteeing their place in the final
The final is to be held at Twickenham before the Guinness Premiership in May. This is the second time this talented team has had the opportunity to play at Twickenham as they played and won there in 2008. Optimum are delighted at how smart the boy looked in their customized Optimum hoodie’s on the weekend and wish them luck for the final in May!!!

Bardon Concrete is going End to End for the Steve Prescott foundation!!

Steve Prescott achieved much during a glittering career with St Helens, Wakefield and Hull FC and has astounded everyone in recent years with his courage and determination. Despite suffering from a rare form of stomach cancer, he has undertaken increasingly tougher challenges to raise money for the foundation set up in his name, which donates all profits to Try Assist and The Christie hospital in Manchester.

This determination has inspired 7 people; Danny Stapleton, Steve White, Richard Owen, Gary Brennand, Adam Wilcox, Jeff Stobbart and Richard Blowman to tackle a challenge of their own and on 17th April they will attempt to cycle the 900 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats, with all monies raised being donated to The Steve Prescott Foundation. They plan to do this in 10 days & the team have been training for almost 12 weeks through wind, rain, snow and ice to get themselves in shape for what promises to be a very tough challenge!

They will be passing through the area on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd April so if you see them please pass on your encouragement, it’s all for a wonderful cause.

To show our support for the guys we have custom made their cycling jerseys, shorts and gloves to hopefully make things a little easier as they complete the ten day challenge!!!

Felicitation au XV de France!!

Here at Optimum we would like to congratulate the XV de France including Optimum endorsee Thierry Dusautoir, on their nervy 12-10 defeat of England in Le Crunch securing their first Grand Slam in six years!! The England captain Lewis Moody took huge pride from his teams performance as they made France work hard to clinch the Grand Slam at the Stade de France.
It is the ninth time in their history that “Les Bleus” walk away with the Grand Slam.

The Carnegie Challenge - Perpignan to Wembley

Steve Prescott and a star-studded team of ex-professionals from Rugby League are embarking upon a challenge to cycle across France, before rowing 24 miles up the River Thames in a dragon boat then running half a marathon to deliver the match ball to Wembley in time for the Carnegie Challenge cup final in august.
